| 1. Written by False Advertising on February 12, 2010 from columbus, ohio, US I would agree. Plus -- when I moved in, I expected to see some deer. I told my kids there would be deer. Maybe not a big ol' buck or nothing, but at least a few doe. Now I feel cheated, and my children ain't got nothing to eat. |
| 2. Written by hannah on February 12, 2010 from newark, new jersey, US slumlording is against tax law. In the event that your landlord has paid off the local judge, try reporting him to the irs. Some slumlords have developments throughout the country, and have no intentions of doing anything to maintain the properties. Allowing houses to fall into dangerous repair violates codes laws, usually. If you have chipped and peeling lead paint in a house built before 1978 and got no lead paint disclosure he violated the federal lead paint disclosure act and you must alert the epa (epa.gov). To comply with tax law a landlord must do everything possible to obtain and to RETAIN tenants. Tenants need to band together and not put up with it, because soon there will be nothing but slumlords. It's happening everywhere. If a landlord is cheating you he's skimming the government also. He's quick to take you to court because that way, if you take him later, he can say it's retaliation. Take him first. Get a Nolo Tenant Guide. Best twenty bucks I ever spent. If you're broke you can find one at the library, but it's a smart purchase, believe me. Good luck. |
